Burnley have cruised past Huddersfield by scoring four goals to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 matches. The Clarets controlled the game from the start and should have had more goals before halftime.

Huddersfield must improve from last season if they want to maintain their title hopes. They averaged just one point per game and were relegated, while Burnley rebounded and returned to the Championship as champions.

Johann Gudmundsson

Icelandic international Sigurdur Gass has been an integral part of Burnley’s impressive run this season. His involvement in both goals during their 3-2 win against Crystal Palace at Turf Moor on October 22 extends his unbeaten streak to eight matches and puts him firmly in the spotlight for future goalscorers.

Last week, he made an impact in West Ham’s 4-0 victory by playing all 90 minutes and taking more touches than his teammates combined. His presence throughout the match was palpable and he had some fantastic moments to show for it.

In the opening seven minutes, Burnley took the lead as Ashley Barnes headed home Anass Zaroury’s cross. Connor Roberts added a second goal on 18 minutes and Josh Brownhill made it three shortly after that.

Michael Obafemi came off the bench to add a fourth goal with an expert free-kick after 73 minutes, capping off an impressive Burnley display that keeps them top of the Championship by 12 points. It was an ideal conclusion to their dominating display.

Aaron Lennon

Lennon’s wing play has seen a major improvement over the last couple of years, not only scoring goals but also producing outstanding assists. He is even close to surpassing Gareth Bale when it comes to key passes per game (2.9).

Aaron Lennon has had an incredibly productive season and deserves all of the credit for it. Only two seasons ago, the former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur winger was struggling with his form; but now he’s back at his best thanks to Sean Dyche’s football strategy this year.

After a slow start to the season, Burnley are now just outside the drop zone and have been improving since their stunning 4-0 victory against Bournemouth last weekend. They may not be back up to last year’s top-flight heights yet, but with two big away games coming up soon, they may get back on track.

Ashley Barnes

Ashley Barnes’ scrappy strike cancelled out Badou Ndiaye’s early goal and put Burnley 2-0 ahead at Turf Moor. The Clarets extended their lead to 3-0 before substitute Michael Obafemi scored late on for Huddersfield.

Burnley showed no sign of panic despite going behind early and could potentially be celebrating more goals in one game than they had scored in any of their five previous league matches. Thanks to their impressive display and Cardiff and Huddersfield’s draw, they now lead the Championship by seven points, 17 ahead of second-placed Sheffield United.

Barnes, out with a thigh injury, will likely be on the bench for Monday’s trip to Newcastle. The former Chelsea striker is still working on his fitness and hasn’t started a game for his club since early November.

Scott Twine

After six months of struggling since joining MK Dons, Scott Twine finally achieved some success. He came on for the Clarets in the 83rd minute and scored an amazing free-kick to seal victory and send them on their way to victory.

It had been a long time coming for the youngster who hadn’t made any matchday squad in six games. This milestone had been long overdue and it will remain with him forever as an unforgettable moment.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany decided to bring Twine on for five minutes of extra time and it proved a game-changer. He worked hard out of possession, displayed clever movement and, when given possession, unleashed an unstoppable free-kick that deflected off a post and into the net.

Burnley have started this season on a high note and are on track to return to the Premier League by Christmas. Unfortunately, they lack a fast and potent striker who can help spur them forward.
