The first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has revealed that Jonathan Majors will portray Kang, Marvel Universe’s biggest threat. This third film in Peyton Reed’s franchise kicks off Phase Five of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

In the movie, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) are transported down to the Quantum Realm after an experiment goes awry. There they discover a dangerous inhabitant named Kang (Jonathan Majors) is trapped and determined to do whatever it takes to escape.

He Who Remains

Peyton Reed, the director of Ant-Man 3, has revealed that Kang, the upcoming Marvel villain, will have a profound effect on the MCU. In fact, Reed went so far as to call him “a profound impact” in the storyline of the MCU.

However, this version of Kang is different than the one featured in Loki. In the finale, He Who Remains was a more laid-back and eccentric version than what we’ve seen previously in comics.

According to an exclusive interview with Men’s Health, Majors won’t just be playing the same old version of Kang the Conqueror in all future Marvel movies.

The actor revealed that he took his role as Kang seriously, showing up early every day with the outfit already on. Additionally, he kept busy during filming by carrying around a portable speaker so he could stay informed of all of the action.

Kang the Conqueror

Marvel fans will be delighted to know that Jonathan Majors is joining the MCU as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3 – and we know it will be a brutal version of his character. On Loki’s season finale, He Who Remains was teased as an alternate version of Kang; now it seems he’ll bring more fully realized version to the MCU.

Director Peyton Reed expressed his admiration for Majors’ performance in the upcoming Ant-Man movie during an exclusive interview with Total Film. He highlighted Majors’ serious approach to Kang, and discussed how they worked together to craft his backstory.
