How to File TDS Return – Tax Deducted at Source, or TDS, is a method for the Indian government to collect tax at the point of transaction. Tax should now be taken when money is deposited to the payee’s account and at the time of payment, which was previously left unpaid.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Filing TDS Returns
Step 1: We must first register on Traces, and our first important step is E-filing. After that, you must register your TAN number. However, if you have not filed your TDS return, your registration will be denied (other than NIL Return). Because you’ll need a token number to register on TRACES, and then the needed challan data from your already filed return will arrive. (It is not essential to register on Traces to file a TDS return because TDS returns are uploaded via E-Filing.) An E-Filing portal must be used to register your TAN number.
Step 2: The second main step is to download the software from the TIN-NSDL website. There are currently three tools for preparing TDS returns:
Then select Validate.
The first is the RPU (Return Preparation Utility), which allows us to create a TDS Return.
The second tool is FVU (File Validation Utility), which allows us to verify that the data has been included into RPU by comparing the details to those in the CSI File.
3rd step: The next question is, what exactly is a CSI File? CIN is another name for CSI File. A challan status inquiry file is required to prove that data while preparing a TDS Return. It may be obtained by following the steps below:
.
TAN BASED VIEW should be selected.
Fill in the blanks with the relevant information.
After that, you’ll be able to download it.
It’s worth noting that when getting the time for the CSI File, it should include a challan that you stated in your return.
Step 4: After you’ve downloaded all of the tools, open the RPU and choose the form number, then Regular, and then Proceed.
Step 5: After that, fill in all of the necessary information.
Step 6: When you’ve finished filling out all of the fields, save the file and click Create File. The dialogue box appears. Select the CSI file you already downloaded in the first box.
Step 7: Select the folder in which all things generated in the following boxes will be saved.
A small number of files would be produced and saved in the folder you selected.
Step 8: Once the FUV is launched, a dialogue box appears. Choose the document with the extension “.txt” that was prepared in the previous phase in the first box (TDS input file name and path). Choose CSI File in the second row, and then select the location where the files will be saved after generating in the third box.
Last Dates for E-Filing TDS and TCS Returns (recommended)
Then select Validate.
Only a few files will be created. If you made a mistake when preparing a return, an error file will be produced in the created file. In the produced data, there will be a PDF file named “27 A.”
Convert the “.fvu” extension file into a ZIP archive.
9th step: Using your TAN (Taxpayer Identification Number) Log in to the E-Filing website. Upload the TDS data by pressing the TDS button. Fill in the blanks, then upload the ZIP file containing the signature file and submit the refund request.
Correct any mistakes that were discovered during the Step-8 validation.
Create the file once more and validate it.
Step 10: You may check the status of your return on TRACES after 2-3 days.
