If you’re selling your home, you probably want it done quickly. Although the housing market is going through a boom, there are still things you need to do to make sure that your home gets off the market as quickly as possible.  Even in a boom, some houses don’t get off the market because their owners neglect to do certain projects that help attract buyers. So here are 5 projects you need to do.

Paint Your Home

It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to a home. Painting your home will banish all those signs of wear and tear and make your home look that much more attractive. A lot of sellers don’t like the idea of investing in painting their homes before selling, but this is a huge deal and you should even consider repainting the interior of your home as well. You’ve lived in your home so long that you are oblivious to its faults. You lack the objectivity to see it from a buyer’s perspective. Give that buyer the benefit of the doubt and paint your home.

Wash the windows

Windows are often neglected because a home’s occupants are so used to seeing them that they no longer see how dirty they are. Get out your #0000 steel wool, Windex and clean your windows. Cleaning your windows will make your house seem brand new, after a time when you had grown accustomed to looking out through dirty windows. Ideally, you should get a professional to clean your home. They will be able to bring in that wonderful natural light that makes houses appear so wonderful.

Time for Spring Cleaning

It’s time for a deep clean of your home. Grab a ladder and dust your ceiling fan blades, picture frames, baseboards, and all the other parts of your home where dust has been allowed to collect. Clean your oven and fridge, two areas which, despite the health risks, do not get cleaned that often. Replace the filters in your HVAC system.

Upgrade Your Cabinets

Cabinets are the most important components of any kitchen, and often the most expensive, so upgrading does a lot for the look and feel of your kitchen. Remember, the kitchen drives a home’s value. So if you want to maximize how much you can put your house up for, then you need to upgrade your cabinets.

Depending on the state of your cabinets, you can either just repaint your cabinets, or replace their doors and drawers with elements from Creative Cabinets and Fine Finishes, or scrub the cabinets, polishing them with a restorer. You can get new hardware to complete the look.

Declutter Your Home

Marie Kondo has preached the virtues of decluttering our homes for decades. Go room by room and get rid of anything useless and which does not spark joy in your life. When a buyer visits a home, they want to go into a well staged home, where everything is well spaced, there’s no clutter, and there’s just this wonderful energy about the place.
