North Avenue Beach
North Avenue Beach, regarded as Chicago’s best beach, is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing, with a plethora of amenities nearby. Its golden sands are within Lincoln Park, a short drive north of the city centre, along the shores of Lake Michigan. North Avenue Beach has a lot of volleyball courts as well as a path to run, cycle, or rollerblade along that is with piers that keep the sand in place and create the scallop-shaped shoreline.

Robie House
The fantastic Robie House is only twenty-minute drive south of the centre and features some exquisite American architecture. It is now a National Historic Site and is on the University of Chicago campus, with tours taking you all around its attractive interior. The beautiful building, designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, was in 1909 and is one of the best examples of Prairie-style architecture.

The 606
The Bloomington Line, once an elevated railway track, is now the backbone of the 606, a linear park and trail network. It is a very pleasant and picturesque place to walk, run, or cycle along, connecting many parks and parts of the city’s northwest side. It is over four kilometres long in total. The more than a-century-old railway line was finally converted into a greenway in 2015 after being overrun with weeds. Nowadays, pretty flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs line its paved path, with commanding views of the city to be as you walk.

Chicago Water Tower
The turreted Chicago Water Tower, designed by architect William Boyington, once played an important role in the city’s water system. A fire that started in a barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’Leary spread and destroyed the city’s entire business district in 1871. The Chicago Water Tower, one of the few surviving structures from the infamous Great Chicago Fire, is a symbol of the city’s resiliency.

Maggie Daley Park
It is a very place to visit, with playgrounds, picnic areas, and lush green spaces, as well as climbing walls and a mini-golf course. The park, named after Maggie Daley, the city’s former first lady, was reimagined, redesigned, and reopened in 2015. Lincoln Park Zoo
Lincoln Park Zoo, which is home to an incredible array of animals, is a short drive north of the centre within the sprawling park of the same name. It is one of the oldest zoos in North America, having been in 1868 and now housing over 1,100 animals. Along with rhinos, hippos, and gorillas, you can also see penguins and polar bears, and the historic Kovler Lion House is a must-see.

Museum of Science and Industry
The Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Americas, is at the north end of Jackson Park. Its massive collection is in the former Palace of Fine Arts, which was to host the 1893 World Expo. It was in 1933. There are mock tornados and science experiments to try, as well as over 75 halls to explore. This incredible museum should not be missed.

Wrigley Field
If you want a fun and memorable experience, you can’t beat watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball at Wrigley Field. It was in 1914 and is after the chewing gum magnate. It still has a lovely old time and look and feel to it. The park is famous for its hand-turned scoreboard and iconic entrance, as well as its ivy-covered outfield walls. Aside from watching an exciting and atmospheric game, you can also take fantastic tours that teach you about the history of the team and the field.

Lakefront Trail
The popular and picturesque Lakefront Trail winds its way along the western shore of Lake Michigan for thirty kilometres. The path begins at Edgewater Beach on the North Side and travels to South Shore on the opposite side of town, passing through Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile along the way. Aside from its spectacular scenery and sights, the trail is ideal for walking, running, cycling, or skating.
