After his departure from FC Bayern Munich in March, Chelsea have made contact with Julian Nagelsmann who is believed to be among six potential candidates being considered as potential head coaches for their club.
Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart traveled to Germany last week in order to speak with former German international, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and is well-received at Chelsea FC.
No plans to cut Lampard reign short
Frank Lampard’s first three games as Chelsea manager have seen them lose three straight, including defeat against Brighton by 2-1, 1-1 draw against Bohemians, and being down 2-0 against Real Madrid in Champions League quarter-final second leg, there is pressure for Lampard to steer them back towards contention quickly.
German international Christian Eriksen joined Chelsea as part of their PS220 million spending spree during the summer and had much to prove after suffering through difficult times in Germany’s Bundesliga. Unfortunately neither Timo Werner or Kai Havertz have lived up to their performances while both have shown some promise at Stamford Bridge; nonetheless there have been bright moments throughout.
However, with a host of youngsters in the squad and a manager who knows how best to work with them, they could turn around their recent slump. David Fofana may well shine after being just inches away from scoring on debut against Fulham but now has an opportunity to break into first team at his hometown club with this new manager’s help.

No plans to make a change
Chelsea are not looking to end Lampard’s reign early despite losing three games on the trot, having held discussions with prospective managers such as Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino but are not considering hiring someone until an interim solution has been found.
This season has been dismal for Blues FC; they currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table despite two transfer windows spent acquiring new signings.
Though their foundation of young players and exciting signings has helped them produce some results, there remain visible cracks.
Boehly dismissed Thomas Tuchel after an ineffective start and replaced him with Brighton manager Graham Potter; who ultimately was fired earlier this month due to failing to coax out more from his team.
No plans to appoint Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique remains keen on taking over as Chelsea manager despite an uncertain start, meeting with chairman Todd Boehly on Monday morning to discuss this possibility. With experience at top levels such as Spain and Argentina, Enrique could bring much-needed competitiveness back into a club like Chelsea.
Former Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was widely reported as being a leading candidate for this job, so he flew down to London earlier this month to meet Boehly for interviews as well as present his ideas to the Blues hierarchy – leaving an excellent impression with both.
Graham Potter could make an ideal replacement, as he remains a proven winner at Chelsea and would bring with him a Spanish style of play that is sought by Boehly.
Boehly will want someone with this level of familiarity at Stamford Bridge and with close ties to Chelsea fans as he builds a team.
No plans to appoint Thomas Tuchel
Frank Lampard remains in charge at Chelsea despite recent incidents at Stamford Bridge, and no plans exist to end his reign any sooner than planned. With 10 Premier League matches remaining and an EFL Cup quarter-final tie with West Ham still remaining, Lampard should still have ample opportunities to change mood and restore his reputation over the course of this season and beyond.
However, Lampard may have difficulty persuading his former players who weren’t taken with his tactics – including Werner and Havertz who have scored just five goals combined this season.
Tuchel must convince his new players of his philosophy of attacking football based on Jurgen Klopp’s approach at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund – something Roman Abramovich is known to appreciate but which Tuchel had difficulty conveying at Paris Saint-Germain.
Potter is believed to be leading contender for the job at Brighton & Hove Albion while Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane also remain candidates.
